Status

The original telecare service was developed into a more advanced system. The predictive preventative and comprehensive model adapts to every user with the goal of:

  • Increasing autonomy, independence and the length of time they stay in their homes.
  • Creating social networks.
  • Detecting and addressing new needs.

Action

To ensure a comprehensive approach that was fully in line with the needs of users, Atenzia’s added value proposal was founded on:

The demographic challenge and new elderly people make us rethink the traditional concept of life after the age of 65. They should be considered as active people who add value to society and enjoy fulfilling lives.

A Multidisciplinary Team

Integrating different profiles to who we usually hired until now, such as psychology, nutrition and physiotherapy professionals, allowing us to create a 360º service.

A person-centred model of care

A tailor-made model of care to address issues and support the potential of every person to create totally personalised solutions.

Innovation

We are continuously researching and collaborating with leading Academic and Medical Foundations and Institutions to introduce innovative models that improve the people’s wellbeing.

Results and conclusions

This new approach allowed us to develop a service that is different to usual methods. With this proactive approach, telecare is not limited to immediate, reactive care in emergencies.

The number of users has also grown over the past 13 years. In 2008, 28,814 people were using the service and by the end of 2021, there were 33,738 users. It is the highest rated home-care service in the region, with an average user rating of 9.7, and the appreciation of users and their family members has tripled since the beginning.

The development of this service can also be seen as a success in that it generated new specific programmes which have clearly proven to be transformative and adaptative, such as those aimed at carers and lonely people.
